Feb. 11, 2020 -- Columbus City Schools held its last School Choice Fair of the year on Thursday, February 6 at the Columbus Afrcicentric Early College Field House. This centrally-located event was designed especially for families with pre-school and elementary school-aged children.
The several hundred families who attended had the opportunity to view displays, collect information, as well as visit with representatives from all of the District’s elementary schools to discover the depth of program and curricular offerings that are provided. Additionally, partnering agencies and other student enrichment initiatives were on hand to promote their benefits.
Another key component to the event were the specialists from the Enrollment Center who were on hand to assist families with navigating the enrollment process and to provide answers to questions or concerns.
Overall, the School Choice Fairs for Middle and High School Students held on Thursday, January 16, and the Elementary School Choice Fair held last Thursday were well-attended and providing a great opportunity for families and students to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year. School Choice applications to be part of the lottery draw must be submitted by February 28, 2020, for high school and middle school students and by March 31, 2020, for elementary school students.
