Physical Education

  • All 6th grader students attending AIMS will participate in a nine week rotation of Physical Education.  In 6th grade learning is focused on teamwork, cooperation, and self directed learning  through fitness and sports. While working toward the 6th grade fitness assessments students will also have opportunities to learn more about hygiene, puberty and nutrition.

As a 7th grader you can have Physical Education and Wellness for a semester.  If you choose this class you will continue building upon skills learned in 6th grade, but will have more time to explore them more in depth.  Sexual health, online safety and drug and alcohol abuse is also addressed as part of the wellness component.

8th grade Physical Education lasts for the entire school year. The first Semester is a High School credit toward Physical Education 1.  After completing the course students will have deeper knowledge on First Aide, Healthy realtionships and sexual health and individual fitness planning.  The second semester is Sport Education and is a high school elective. During Sport Ed. students are self directed and become the coach, referee, scorekeepers and equipment managers. After successfully completing this class you would earn an elective credit toward graduation.

No matter what grade you are in, Physical Education not only promotes physical fitness but also enhances social skills, teamwork, and overall well-being through fitness and sports.  Many students enjoy the opportunity to be active, learn new skills, and participate in healthy competition with their peers.  This participation not only contributes to their physical health but also positively impacts their mental and emotional development.
