CCS Announces New Assistant Principalships Ahead of the 2024-2025 School Year

August 12, 2024 -- Columbus City Schools is pleased to announce three new assistant principalships ahead of the 2024-2025 school year. 

Devonshire Elementary School

aimee paceWe are delighted to introduce Aimee Pace as the new Assistant Principal at Devonshire Elementary School. Aimee is a dedicated leader with a strong commitment to equity and high-quality education for all students, a value that resonates with our school's mission.

Aimee has been a part of Columbus City Schools since 2015, excelling in various roles, including as a teacher and leadership intern. Her recent role as a Leadership Intern at Fairwood Elementary School and Stewart Alternative Elementary School has allowed her to implement data-driven instructional strategies and foster an equitable school culture. Her extensive experience and qualifications, including a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Toledo, a Post-Master's Certificate in College Teaching from Capella University, and a Certificate in Teacher Leader Endorsement from The Ohio State University, make her well-prepared for the role.

Aimee's educational qualifications include a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Toledo, a Post-Master's Certificate in College Teaching from Capella University, and a Certificate in Teacher Leader Endorsement from The Ohio State University. She is completing her Certificate in Principal Licensure from the American College of Education.

Throughout her career, Aimee has demonstrated her ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate effectively with educators, and support student success through innovative teaching practices and intervention strategies. Her dedication to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment will greatly benefit our school community.

We are thrilled to welcome Aimee Pace to Devonshire Elementary School and eagerly anticipate the positive impact she will make as Assistant Principal.

Starling K-8

travis dunlapStarling K-8 is excited to announce Travis Dunlap's appointment as the new Assistant Principal. With a diverse background in public education, corporate, and non-profit sectors, Mr. Dunlap brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective that will undoubtedly enrich our school community.

Mr. Dunlap has been integral to Columbus City Schools since 2019, serving in various administrative roles. Most recently, he co-led two elementary schools, West Mound and West Broad, as Assistant Principal, where he supervised daily operations, collaborated with instructional coaches and leadership teams, and managed student behavior concerns.

His data analysis and reporting expertise, gained from his role as an Academic Performance Analyst, has significantly improved instruction and academic outcomes across the District.

In addition to his work in Columbus City Schools, Mr. Dunlap has held key positions such as Director of Data & Engagement at Communities in Schools of Ohio and Research Associate at George Washington University. His experience in developing and leading programs, consulting, and managing projects makes him a valuable asset to Starling K-8.

Mr. Dunlap's unwavering dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment is a testament to his commitment to our students, staff, and families. His passion for supporting everyone in our community to achieve their full potential is inspiring. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Starling K-8 community and look forward to his contributions as Assistant Principal.

Wedgewood Middle School

michelle nathanWedgewood Middle School is thrilled to announce Michelle Nathan's promotion to Assistant Principal. With a dynamic track record in instructional leadership, project management, and team empowerment, Ms. Nathan brings a wealth of experience and a proven ability to drive academic improvements and foster a collaborative culture.

Ms. Nathan's career in education spans over two decades, beginning as a classroom teacher at Linmoor, Medina, and CAEC Middle Schools in Columbus City Schools. She has held various roles, including Instructional Coach at Northgate Intermediate School and Leadership Intern at Binns Elementary School. In these positions, she successfully implemented literacy intervention blocks, teacher-based teams, restorative practice rooms, and a successful MTSS framework, all contributing to a positive and collaborative culture.

Her expertise in building strong relationships, utilizing data effectively, and leading with an equity-centered approach has consistently increased student achievement and collective teacher efficiency. Ms. Nathan holds a Master's in Education and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Science from The Ohio State University. She is certified with professional licenses for Elementary (1-8), kindergarten primary (K-3), and as a principal (4-9).

Wedgewood Middle School is confident that Ms. Nathan will continue to excel in her new role as Assistant Principal, driving academic success and fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment. We are certain that her leadership will bring positive changes to our school.
