Selective Admissions Information

  • Selective Admissions:

    Current CCS students who meet specific criteria will receive an invitation to submit a Selective Admissions application to the school for which they are eligible to apply.  The Selective Admissions application will be available on January 7, 2026 for students who qualify and must be submitted via the School Choice link in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal by January 30, 2026.

     

    Students wishing to participate in the Selective Admission process who are not currently enrolled in Columbus City Schools must provide the following to the School Choice Office:

    • Documentation that supports eligibility for Selective Admissions-the School Choice staff will forward information to the Gifted and Talented department for verification of eligibility
    • On-line registration must be completed using SpeedyPass
    • Enrollment documents must be presented at Central Enrollment
    • Completed application

    Selective Admission Application Deadlines for the upcoming School Year

    January 7 -  Selective Admissions applications available, via the Parent Portal, for eligible students to apply for Columbus Africentric, Eastmoor Academy HS, CAHS, Ft. Hayes HS, Arts Impact Middle School, and Duxberry Park Alternative Elementary School.  Please note, only the school for which your child is eligible will be available in the Parent Portal under Selective Admissions.

    January 30- Deadline for students to submit Selective Admissions applications.

     

    Qualifications for an Invitation to participate in Selective Admissions:

    Duxberry Elementary School (Applications accepted for Grades 3-5), Arts Impact Middle School (Applications accepted for 6th Grade), Fort Hayes (Applications accepted for Grades 9-12):  Students identified as gifted in one or more areas of visual and/or performing arts and who are residents within the Columbus City Schools District are eligible to apply for Selective Admissions.  

    Columbus Alternative High School, Eastmoor Academy High School:

    1) be a current 8th grade student on track for 9th grade entrance at high school for the 2026-2027 school year; AND

    2) be a resident of the Columbus City School District; AND

    3) have had a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for all the 7th grade; AND

    4) be identified as Gifted and Talented in either Specific Academic or Superior Cognitive Ability OR scored at the 90th percentile on both reading and math on the fall 8th grade iReady test.

    Columbus Africentic: 

    1) be a current 5th grade – 8th grade student on track for the 2026-2027 school year; AND

    2) be a resident of the Columbus City School District; AND

    3) have had a grade point average of 2.5 or higher for all the 6th, 7th and 8th grade; AND

    4) have one of the following:

    a. scored on grade level for both Reading and Math iReady test OR

    b. scored on grade level for both Reading and Math on an equivalent assessment
