“Due to the unprecedented state of emergency we are in, the Board of Education wants to act with an abundance of caution while still carrying out the official business of the District,” said Board of Education President Jennifer Adair. “We will follow the guidelines in House Bill 197 that allow for a virtual meeting while also streaming it live to the public.
“In no way do we want to minimize or prohibit the public’s participation in or engagement with our meetings. We remain committed to transparency in our operations, and we look forward to re-establishing the standard procedures for our meetings when we are past this state of emergency. In the near term, using technology to hold our meetings virtually allows the Board of Education to conduct its business while complying with guidance from the CDC and public health officials to protect the health and safety of the public, staff, and board members.”
Board Committees will also begin to meet virtually and stream the meetings. The Policy Review Committee will meet virtually on Thursday, April 9, at 8:30 a.m.
The Millage Committee meetings scheduled for Monday, April 6, and Monday, April 20, have been postponed. The Millage Committee is now scheduled to hold its first virtual meeting on Monday, April 27, at 5:30 p.m.
