Columbus City Schools Board of Education Shares Community Input Report For Superintendent Search
May 1, 2023 -- The Columbus City Schools Board of Education has issued a report that outlines input received from the community on the next superintendent. To better understand what Columbus City Schools’ stakeholder groups desire in the next superintendent, the Board of Education gathered stakeholder perspectives about the state of the district and profile of the next superintendent. The findings in this report will inform the Board of Education as it selects the finalists for the superintendent position.
The opportunity to participate was shared with Columbus City Schools students and families, teachers, administrators, support staff, and broadly to non-parent community members.
This combined research showed that Columbus City Schools seeks a Superintendent who:
- Is willing to listen to input but is a decision-maker.
- Has a strong moral compass and has successful experience in the selection and implementation of educational priorities consistent with the interests and needs of students, staff, board, and community.
- Is strongly committed to a “student-centered” philosophy in all decisions.
- Possesses the ability to enhance student performance, especially in identifying and closing or narrowing the gaps in student achievement and opportunity.
- Promotes a positive and professional environment that includes mutual trust and respect among faculty, staff, administrators, and Board.
