Columbus City Schools Board of Education Thanks Community for Input on Superintendent Search
April 27, 2023 -- The Columbus City Schools Board of Education is grateful to the Columbus community for providing insights and perspectives on characteristics and priorities that our next superintendent should possess to best serve our students.
Throughout the search process, the Board of Education has provided a variety of opportunities for community engagement, including online surveys, small group discussions, interviews with stakeholders, and an in-person town hall held April 25, 2023. The opportunity to participate in the online community input survey was shared with more than 47,000 Columbus City Schools students and families, more than 9,000 teachers, administrators, support staff, and broadly to non-parent community members. Findings have been carefully noted and will help inform the Board of Education in its decision-making process. The summary of this information will be published in a Community Input Report next week.
The initial pool of candidates will be considered by the Board of Education the week of May 1, 2023. The Board of Education expects to select semi-finalists for interviews, and narrow that group of semi-finalists to a small group of finalists. The names and backgrounds of the semi-finalists will be shared with the community during this same week.
The finalists will visit Columbus for a “Day in the District” during the week of May 8, 2023. This will include a livestreamed town hall where members of the community can meet the finalists in a moderated question and answer format. The Board of Education expects to select and make an offer to the next superintendent during the week of May 15, 2023.
Information on the timeline, the community report and other elements of the search can be found on the search website at www.ccsleadershipsearch.com.
