District Qualifies for Government Finance Officers Foundation Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
September 15, 2021 -- Columbus City Schools has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report produced by the District's Finance Department.
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting awarded by the Government Finance Officers Foundation (GFOA). The District's comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended on June 30, 2020 qualified for GFOA's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
"We are so pleased to be recognized for the 21st consecutive year by the GFOA. This award represents our collaborative effort within the entire department to publish a comprehensive report, demonstrating transparency and full disclosure," said Stan Bahorek, Treasurer/CFO, Columbus City Schools.
The Certificate of Achievement's attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. This will mark the 21st consecutive year that the Columbus City Schools has received this prestigious award.
"This is great work, which we already knew, but it is so nice to be recognized nationally," said Columbus Board of Education President Jennifer Adair.
The GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
