West Mound Elementary School Welcomes a New Principal
August 23, 2021 -- Margaret Allen is the new principal of West Mound Elementary School for the 2021-2022 school year.
Professionally, Ms. Allen brings more than 21 years of experience in education, all of it for Columbus City Schools. Ms. Allen has taught, multiple grade levels and subject areas.
Ms. Allen is not new to West Mound Elementary School, having worked as a third-grade teacher from 2019-2020. She recently served as the Leadership Intern at Siebert Elementary School and the Summer Experience School Administrator at West Mound.
During her tenure, Ms. Allen has developed and facilitated ongoing building-level professional development in classroom management and de-escalation techniques, led Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) initiatives, and most importantly, built relationships and trust to bring all building stakeholders together to increase student success. Solid academics and the social emotional needs of students are at the center of Allen’s decision-making when it comes to teaching and learning.
Ms. Allen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, Psychology/Sociology, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from The Ohio State University. She earned her Principal Licensure in Pre-K-6, Intervention Specialist Pre-K-3, and 4-5 Generalist-Ohio Educator.
“I am excited to be back at West Mound Elementary and look forward to this next chapter in education with all of our students and families,” Margaret Allen said.
