CCS Transportation Ready to Roll
January 29, 2021 -- Columbus City Schools have made some adjustments to prepare for the safe return of students on February 1.
“Our supervisors, support staff and bus drivers have been waiting for this day for months, we are very prepared,” said Robert Weinheimer, Operations Manager, Office of Transportation. “We are taking safety seriously and have a multi-level approach to safety getting on the school bus.”
School buses will be disinfected multiple times a day.
“We spray disinfectant on all the high-touch points and spray between runs, and when the bus driver comes back in the evening we disinfect the entire bus,” said Weinheimer.
Students are required to wear a face mask at all times, covering their mouth and nose. If a student does not have a mask, the bus driver will provide one. Students will also have to run their hands under a touchless sanitizer dispenser, and sit one student per seat, in alternating fashion.
“I am wishing all of our students endless success as they continue to tackle the year,” said Dr. Tina Pierce, Board Member, Columbus Board of Education. “One thing that we know about our students is that they have resilience, they have perseverance and I think they are going to be super excited to get back into the classroom. Continue to be patient with not just our district, but also with our community as we continue to adapt and adjust in appropriate measures to help promote health and safety during COVID-19.”
