Columbus City Schools 2020 Fall Sports Season Set To Begin
September 16, 2020 -- Columbus City Schools student-athletes are ready to hit the field this week as the 2020 fall sports season gets underway.
With sports like volleyball, soccer, tennis, and football getting ready to start their competition season, Columbus City Schools has put several guidelines and procedures in place to make gameday safe for families and athletes.
“Families will have to adhere to what will be a new spectator experience, but I think the key to that is there is a spectator experience,” said Vincent Clarno, Director of Student Activities.
Clarno says the District will allow two tickets per student-athlete competing in that day’s game. Tickets will not be provided to the general public nor will there be a distribution of student tickets.
“There is going to be a limited number of guests permitted to attend the game. The next piece is that as guests arrive they are going to have to sit in areas and locations that are spread out.”
This policy now in place following Governor Mike DeWine's approval for sporting competitions to resume across the state.
In line with the Governor’s guidelines:
- Spectators are expected to maintain social distancing of six feet from other spectators who are not in their household while anywhere in the facility.
- Spectators are required to wear face coverings.
- Once spectators choose a spot to view, they need to remain in their seats and not mingle or congregate unless they are using the restroom.
- Once spectators are in the facility re-entering is not permitted.
Signs will be displayed across stadiums and facilities reminding fans of these rules.
“Our families and schools are excited to have all of our fall sports back out there. And with the kids getting a chance to play and compete for some of them this is their routine of life. So it is an exciting time for us.”
