    Art Club

     

     

    Band/Orchestra/Choir

    Choir and orchestra are open to all 4th & 5th grade ISE students.  Band is available for 5th grade students.  Students meet with a music instructor twice a week.  Evening performances are held a few times each year at Whetstone High School, allowing family members to enjoy what students have been learning.  (Note: Students are responsible for renting instruments outside of CCS – although a limited number of CCS instruments are available to some students.  Information regarding where to rent or purchase an instrument is provided to interested students.)

    Black History Performance

    The Black History Performance takes place in February.  Students learn about different cultures that identify as Black, and customs that originate from Africa.  The students then perform a variety of songs, dances, skits, and poems/spoken word for the entire school to enjoy.  Be sure to sign up to audition in January!  

     

    Chess Club

    Chess club is a parent run, after school activity that is offered to 4th & 5th grade students who are interested in learning to play/practicing chess.  (No prior knowledge of chess is needed.)

     

    Field Trips

    Each year a wide variety of field trips are offered to students at each grade level.  These trips take place during regular school hours.  Information/permission slips will be sent home prior to all field trips. 

     

    Gardening Club

    The Gardening Club allows students (grades 3-5) to explore ideas of agriculture, horticulture, sustainability, nutrition, and environmentalism.  The students will continue to plant new seeds and grow a bounty for the staff, as well as for their club to enjoy.  Learning about saving the environment, using the Earth ethically, and finding out what delicious food can be grown in everyone's own backyard are the clubs main goals.

     

    Invention Convention

    Students in the 5th grade are given the opportunity to conduct their own research and invent something new!  All inventions are displayed, and some students are awarded the opportunity to compete at district level.

     

    JA BizTown

    Students in 4th & 5th grade have the opportunity to participate in this hands-on experience.  The JA BizTown program provides students with a realistic opportunity to experience how basic economic concepts are applied in the real world. By participating in JA BizTown, young students experience the responsibilities and opportunities of citizenship in a free enterprise system. 

     

    Mileage Club

    Mileage Club is a parent run walking/running club offered to all ISE students.  Students carry cards which are marked by parent volunteers each time a lap is completed.  A foot charm is earned after each card is filled, and small prizes are given after every 7th card.  Each participant will be required to submit a completed Permission Form and Release of Liability.

    Momentum

    Founded in 2003, Momentum is a nonprofit organization located in Columbus, Ohio. Momentum has reached over 7,000 central Ohio boys and girls and hundreds of educators in dozens of schools using National Dance Institute’s unique methodology of teaching dance.  ISE 4th grade students are all able to participate in this program weekly, during regular school hours as professional teaching artists and musicians come to ISE to work with the students.  An end of the year performance is held, free of charge, every May at the Davidson Theater downtown.

    Native American Heritage Month Activities

    Native American Heritage Month is in November.  Whether taking a field trip to see the history of Ohio Native American tribes in person, or having a museum come to the school to talk about tribes of the area; Native American Heritage is an integral part of history for the students of Indian Springs.  Students will learn about culture, tradition, and history.

     

     

    Safety Patrol

     

    Spelling Bee Crew

    Students wanting to practice for the Spelling Bee, or desiring to hone the skill of spelling will meet to practice these skills.  Students will learn new spelling games, practice old favorites (such as Scrabble), and study phonics with Greek/Latin prefixes and suffixes.  The club will be open to students in grades 3-5.  Look for sign ups in the beginning of the year!

     

    Student Council

    At the beginning of each school year students are chosen from each classroom to represent their classmates.  Student council is responsible for the planning and preparation of several in school events each year, including Spirit Week, Red Ribbon Week (drug awareness), Giving Tree (food & winter wear drive), and Souper Bowl of Caring (food drive).

     

    S.W.A.T Team

    Students Who Advance Technology Team. Open to 4th and 5th graders with homeroom teachers

     

    Ted Talks

    4th & 5th grade students who choose to write their own Ted Talk may be chosen to share their talk at the Ohio History Connection with students from around the district. (This is organized through an independent Tedx Talk group.)

     

    4th & 5th Grade Camp

    Each spring our 4th & 5th graders are given the opportunity to participate in a 3-day wilderness camp experience.  Students enjoy educational and recreational activities while away.  Fundraisers and PTA contributions assist in reducing the cost of camp.
