Black History Performance
The Black History Performance takes place in February. Students learn about different cultures that identify as Black, and customs that originate from Africa. Chess Club
Chess club is a parent run, after school activity that is offered to 4th & 5th grade students who are interested in learning to play/practicing chess. (No prior knowledge of chess is needed.)
Field Trips
Each year a wide variety of field trips are offered to students at each grade level. These trips take place during regular school hours. Information/permission slips will be sent home prior to all field trips.
Gardening Club
The Gardening Club allows students (grades 3-5) to explore ideas of agriculture, horticulture, sustainability, nutrition, and environmentalism. The students will continue to plant new seeds and grow a bounty for the staff, as well as for their club to enjoy. Learning about saving the environment, using the Earth ethically, and finding out what delicious food can be grown in everyone's own backyard are the clubs main goals.
Invention Convention
Students in the 5th grade are given the opportunity to conduct their own research and invent something new! All inventions are displayed, and some students are awarded the opportunity to compete at district level.
JA BizTown
Students in 4th & 5th grade have the opportunity to participate in this hands-on experience. The JA BizTown program provides students with a realistic opportunity to experience how basic economic concepts are applied in the real world. By participating in JA BizTown, young students experience the responsibilities and opportunities of citizenship in a free enterprise system.
Mileage Club
Mileage Club is a parent run walking/running club offered to all ISE students. Students carry cards which are marked by parent volunteers each time a lap is completed. A foot charm is earned after each card is filled, and small prizes are given after every 7th card. Each participant will be required to submit a completed Permission Form and Release of Liability.

ISE 4th grade students are all able to participate in this program weekly, during regular school hours as professional teaching artists and musicians come to ISE to work with the students. An end of the year performance is held, free of charge, every May at the Davidson Theater downtown.

Native American Heritage Month Activities
Native American Heritage Month is in November. Whether taking a field trip to see the history of Ohio Native American tribes in person, or having a museum come to the school to talk about tribes of the area; Native American Heritage is an integral part of history for the students of Indian Springs. Students will learn about culture, tradition, and history.
